It’s finally Spring, which means it’s time to get your family and home ready for the warmer months! If you put a little work into your home now, you can relax once it’s time to play this summer. Here’s Home Comfort Experts’ spring checklist to get you started off on the right track.

Filthy Furnace Filters Need to Go

Furnace filters are a great line of defense to keep your family breathing clean air. They screen out dust, pollen, and pollutants from the air before they have a chance to get inside your home. It is important to clean them or switch them out every couple of months depending on your specific needs. A clean filter will not only keep your air cleaner, it will also save you money by helping your system run more efficiently. A clogged filter can restrict the airflow, putting added strain on your HVAC system’s fan motor. If you’re having other system problems take our quiz to see if you need a repair or replacement for your air conditioner or furnace.

Check and Change the Batteries

While you’re spring-cleaning, don’t forget to also change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Nearly two thirds of fire related deaths occur because homeowners’ smoke detectors weren’t working due to dead or missing batteries, or they didn’t have any smoke detectors at all, according to the National Fire Protection Association. It is recommended that smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries be changed at least once a year. And no matter what, don’t ever take out the batteries to your smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. That’s what leads to tragedies. Read more about carbon monoxide dangers here: Why Monitoring is the Best Solution for Health & Safety.

Tune-up for a More Comfortable Season

This is also a great time to tune-up your air conditioner. Regular maintenance can keep your system working at peak efficiency. A system that has a yearly tune-up experiences considerably fewer breakdowns, saving you more money.

Check the Dampers in Your Ductwork

You may not know it, but there are dampers inside your ductwork that can help you control the amount of airflow to specific rooms. If you have rooms that get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter, you can adjust these dampers to increase or decrease the airflow to those rooms. Now that you will be switching over to your air conditioner, you may need to make some seasonal adjustments. For instance, upstairs rooms may get too hot in the winter since heat rises, but they may need more airflow in the summer to keep them cool enough.

Home Comfort Experts,

Just a note to let you know how comfortable and warm we are with our new Trane furnace. Can hardly wait to try out the new central air, also. We really feel like we got a great deal and our new furnace is ten times quieter than our old one and keeps a more constant heat without running as often as the old one did trying to keep up with temperature changes. Awesome!!!

Would also like to thank Glen for explaining all of our options and guiding us into making the right choice for our heating and cooling needs. If any future customers are in doubt of what choice to make, have them call us.

Our biggest shout out goes to Rob and Nathan for an outstanding job of installing and explaining how everything works. Their kindness and knowledge and question-answering was such a wonderful experience for us. They went above and beyond our expectations. It was so cold out the day they were here and working outside was unbearable, but they tasked the job and stayed almost 12 hours to complete everything. Just a great job by Rob and Nathan. Your company should be proud to have such great techs. We did not call around to any other companies for pricing and we have heard your ads on B-100 and your commercials on channel 16. After Glen let us make our choice we knew we had a good company working for us and we made a great choice. Thank you to all who got us warm again and your company name of Home Comfort is what we are enjoying now.

Our Gratitude and your continued success,

Glen B. & Connie T.
