Heating Tune-Up: Don’t Lose Heating This Winter

Before the cold Northern Indiana winter arrives, now is the time to get your heating system ready to keep your family safe and comfortable all season. A heating tune-up will insure that your system is operating properly and will make sure that the unit is working as efficiently as possible to control energy costs. The Old Farmers Almanac is predicting that the winter of 2010-2011 will be colder than normal, so get ready!

When Home Comfort Experts come to your house to perform a heating tune-up, they will inspect your furnace with a state of the art infrared camera. The images it produces are the best in the industry and will reveal signs of corrosion and damage to your heat exchanger that our technician may be able to repair through our maintenance program. The 20 point precision tune up will also check for dangerous potential gas leaks or carbon monoxide emissions that can threaten the safety of your family.

The tune up of the heating system also includes tightening all of the electrical connections and a voltage test to make sure it is functioning properly. Motors and internal parts will be lubricated to prevent damage. To make sure that the system is operating efficiently and not wasting energy, our skilled technicians will inspect all vent pipes to make sure that they are clear. The condensate drain will be checked as well because if it is blocked it can negatively impact the entire system.

During our visit, we will make sure that your thermostat is cycling the furnace on and off properly to keep the temperature in your home comfortable throughout the heating season. This is a good time to have a programmable thermostat installed so that you can reduce the temperature in the house when you are at work or asleep. After all, it doesn’t make sense to pay to heat an empty house.

If your home is drafty, ask our technician to perform an air infiltration inspection to determine where the cold air is seeping in.  Contact us to schedule your heating tune-up, just in time for cold winter weather.
