Duct Sealing: Keep Your Home Energy Efficient And Safe

There is nothing more important than the safety of your family.  Unfortunately, in many homes the indoor air is making people sick. There is a reason that so many people today are suffering from allergies or asthma and doctors suspect it could be bad air inside buildings. Environmental Protection Agency studies have shown that indoor air pollution is a bigger problem than outdoor pollution and the American College of Allergy and Asthma says as many as half of all illnesses could be blamed on indoor air.

Bacteria, viruses, pollen, pet dander and mold are all examples of dangerous contaminants that can build up in your duct work. A good cleaning will mitigate the threat.  Your duct system should then be sealed up tightly to prevent future problems. Home Comfort Experts employ the HEPA AIRE Duct Cleaning system to make homes in Northern Indiana safe.

Duct sealing after the cleaning will not only keep you safe but guarantee that the warm air being pumped through your home is not leaking out wasting energy. Often, if you have a room in your home that is difficult to keep warm a leaky air duct is the culprit. Duct sealing is also a good idea to make sure that dangerous gases put off by the furnace or hot water heater are properly being vented outside and not drifting back into your home.

Our experienced technicians have found that about 20% of the warm air that is being piped through the duct work of the typical home escapes before reaching the living area, so it would be well worth your while to have your duct work inspected.

The U.S. Department of Energy has put together a complete brochure on what you need to know about duct sealing as part of the energy saving Energy Star program. Click here to download it.
