Signs You Need Dryer Vent Cleaning Services
Here's an alarming statistic: at least 2,800 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year. Regular dryer vent cleaning should be done for several reasons, with fire safety at the top of the list.
A clean dryer vent is crucial to protecting your home, your belongings, and your family. Ideally, dryer vents need to be cleaned yearly. However, there are some warning signs that indicate you might need to have it cleaned earlier. Some of the signs include:
Longer Drying Times
There's a common misconception that longer drying times are an indication you need a new dryer. However, often, it's not the case. Most times, the real problem is the lint in the vents.
If it takes more than one cycle to dry your clothes, you will need the services of our cleaning professionals. Lint buildup can make the machine dry clothes less efficiently and work harder than usual.
Clothes Smell Musty
Another sign to get professional dryer vent cleaning is musty-smelling clothes. When not operating at maximum efficiency, dryers won't be able to remove all the moisture from your clothes effectively.
Unfortunately, a musty smell can also be a sign of mold developing. Having your dryer vents cleaned professionally will not only help keep your clothes in great condition, it can also help ensure your safety.
Burning or Overheating Smells
A burning smell when your dryer is running should be a cause for concern. If lint buildup reaches the dryer heat supply, it can heat up, burn, and catch fire before you know it. Also, if you notice burning scents, turn your dryer off immediately and don't use it until our professionals have cleaned and inspected the vent. Running your dryer might lead to safety hazards, including a potential house fire.
Excessive Lint
Another telltale sign that your dryer needs professional cleaning is excessive lint after use. When lint clogs the vent, the dryer won't be able to work properly. Pay attention to unusual amounts of lint spilling into the clothing chamber as it can cause problems when not addressed promptly.
Blocked Vent Hood
Check your dryer vent if you suspect you have a blocked dryer vent hood. It's the hood that's situated outside your home and facilitates the release of hot air from the dryer. Check if there is a lint around the opening. If you notice lint or other debris in the dryer, get in touch with us asap.
The Benefits of Dryer Vent Cleaning
Cleaning the dryer vent should be considered a necessity instead of an option as it offers the following benefits:
Minimize the Risk of Dryer Fires
From 2010 to 2014, over 15,000 fires were attributed to washing machines and dryers. Undoubtedly, cleaning your dryer vent is one of the best ways to minimize the risk of dryer fires. One of the most common ignition sources is dryer lint. Ensuring your vent is lint and debris free can help ensure fire hazards are kept at bay.
Energy Efficiency
Over time, dryer vents will collect more debris and dust. As more dust and debris accumulate, there is less room for exhausted air to pass through. This can cause the dryer to work harder to remain operational. When your dryer works harder than it's supposed to, it will also use more energy. Save money and keep your dryer in peak shape by getting it cleaned regularly.
Longer Lifespan
Regular dryer vent cleaning can help ensure it lasts longer. Clogged dryer vents can cause the machine to work extra hard. However, when the dryer vent is free from dirt and debris, it will run smoothly and last for many years.
Saves Money
When vents are not blocked, they can work more efficiently and won't cause wear and tear to the parts. Clean vents can also help ensure you won't have to spend money on repair or replacement anytime soon.

The Importance of Duct Cleaning
Indoor air quality directly affects the health, comfort, productivity and quality of life of anyone who breathes indoor air.Your beautiful “clean” home could be a major source of airborne contaminates that could prevent you and your family from feeling “healthy” and “energetic.” Allergens such as pollen, dust, mold spores, fungi spores, tobacco smoke, dust mite feces, pet hair and pet dander all contribute to poor indoor air quality. A half teaspoon of dust contains as many as 1,000 dust mites and 250,000 allergenic dust mite fecal pellets. But don’t worry, at Home Comfort Experts, we can eliminate ALL of them and keep your system running clean and efficiently with our dryer duct cleaning services.
Contact the duct inspection and cleaning team at Home Comfort Experts, and eliminate the build-up of allergens, mold, dust and other particles that have collected in your ducts and can affect your family’s breathing.
